The Roots of suburbia

The apparent reversal of the exodus from the countryside to the rapidly growing cities produced by the Industrial revolution was the result of several environmental and economics policies which came about due to many contributing factors. Between the 1890s and 1920s the rapidly growing cities of the industrialised world were subject to many militant strikes and demonstrations, characterised by a workforce which could be quickly mobilised from the densely populated tenements they inhabited.
